Peter Buckley's Bio

Peter Buckley is proud to continue his association with the University of Wollongong and UOW Sydney Business School after graduating with a Master of Business Administration (Distinction) and Bachelor of Commerce degrees. Peter is an executive leader for Peoplecare Health Limited as Head of Strategy & Innovation with a clear focus on developing customer centricity, innovation and business agility. He is an experienced executive manager with a track record of building value for businesses, their people and customers across a number of key roles in large engineering and services businesses, along with a number of iconic Australian and ASX-listed companies.

His board and community involvement includes being a Director and Vice-President of The Illawarra Connection, member of the Salvation Army Illawarra Advisory Board and Company Member of Warrigal. Within the health sector he is a member of the Commonwealth Government Overseas Students Health Cover consultative group.

Peter was awarded Young Businessperson of the Year in 2012 by the Illawarra Business Chamber. Peter has represented Australia at the International Worldskills competition in Switzerland, been an executive member of the Education without Borders conference in Abu Dhabi and won the Australian Overseas Foundation scholarship which took him to Puerto Rico. In addition, he was awarded the prestigious Sydney Business School Illawarra Connection Masters scholarship and was the Seminar Team Leader for the Rotary Youth Leadership Award. Peter’s initial qualifications were as an engineering tradesperson and quickly developed experience in project and business management whilst concurrently completing his Bachelor of Commerce degree.

He has pedalled from Sydney to Surfers Paradise raising money for Father Chris Riley’s Youth of the Street program and also cycled over 1600km from Brisbane to Townsville for the ‘Smiling for Smiddy’ Foundation.
