India Postgraduate Study Tour
Master of Business Administration and Master of Business students have the opportunity to participate in a study abroad tour in August as part of the elective subject, MGNT939: Global Business Practices (6 credit points).
Students will visit India to experience the economic development, observe the Indian business landscape and local culture, and understand the nature and scale of particular industries such as IT services development and business process outsourcing. Students will visit organisations from various industries and the Institute of Finance and International Management (IFIM) at Bangalore and Birla Institute of Management and Technology (BIMTECH) in Delhi. Participants will undergo experiential learning in environments that are culturally, physically and institutionally diverse.
This study tour also involves a pre-departure workshop, post-return debriefing workshop, a mixture of in-country activities and assessment tasks.
The tour offers a personal development experience to help students become global citizens with an Asia-Pacific focus ̶ becoming cosmopolitan leaders. Meeting with business representatives, as well as students at IFIM, it is envisaged that students will be able to reflect on the culture, social norms and ethical business practices of India (in comparison to Australia), which will enhance their capacity to manage in a global business environment.
Travel dates: 7 days during the T2/T3 inter-trimester break (August)
